The relevance of the chosen topic is confirmed by the fact that each child in the process of his mental development has a certain level of development of thinking, but especially the issue of the degree of development is put in children with a delay in mental development. In the domestic literature, there are many studies devoted to the development of thinking in children with mental retardation, but the question of methods aimed at raising the level of development of thinking in this category remains unexplored. The article analyzes the peculiarities of the development of thinking in children with mental retardation at school age, and also develops methods aimed at raising the level of development of thinking in schoolchildren with a delay in mental development.
