The article presents the results of empirical studies of the academic performance of students of a medical College with different types of academic motivation and different statuses of professional identity, gender characteristics. In the study, it was found that the unformed of professional identity is determined by indifferent and negative attitude towards learning and may show reduced or even low academic performance and underachievement of the student. In women more significant are the motives of prestige and communicative motives, for men the most important are: the motives of self-actualization, educational and social.
